Covid 19 Update
The ongoing coronavirus lockdown here in the UK is posing a number of challenges to my work that have a bearing on my ability to fulfil orders. I am lucky enough to work in a particularly isolated workshop environment, so my ability to work safely is not a problem.
Currently, I am operating a reduced work schedule due to an increase in childcare. I am also having to source new suppliers for almost all of my materials which is placing further demands on my time.
In order to reduce my impact on essential services and to limit the risk to myself and my family I am dropping off a batch of all completed orders at the post office once a week. Currently, the research suggests that the virus is able to live on metal surfaces for up to 72 hours, and as a result we are packaging orders up in advance so that they will have been in their box for 72 hours before arrival with customers.
I am very aware that customers would like a speedy turnaround from order to completion, I am working to complete orders as quickly as possible but the virus and subsequent lockdown will lead to inevitable delays.
With these limitations in mind, I am reluctantly increasing my advised turnaround time to 1 month as this gives a more realistic timeframe for potential customers. This will allow me to spend the required time ensuring everything I am hand-making is given the care and attention that my customers have come to expect.
I am very grateful for the support of my customers at this time.
